From the Nationwide Investigation Casefiles

Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction

If you have watched enough television over the years, you could be forgiven for thinking that a Private Investigator's world is full of bodies in dark alleys and beautiful ladies in distress....

But what does a Private Investigator actually DO?

Amongst our many files are interesting and varied reasons why the services of Nationwide Investigations Group have been called in...

Naturally, the anonymity of those involved has been respected in all cases.

Working for a foreign Government to investigate fraudulent transactions, NIG operatives uncovered amongst others - 15 corrupt politicians, 8 corrupt bank employees, 5 corrupt police officers and 1 corrupt lawyer spread over 3 continents.

Instructed by the owner of a large house in Surrey to investigate a break-in and the theft of jewellery valued at £270,000, our agents discovered that the owner's Wife had organised it.

She had enlisted the help of the Butler with whom she had been having an affair for the previous two years!

A North East lady who was claiming £750,000 in a personal injury case because of her inability to walk had her case thrown out of Court after our agents filmed her dancing on a table whilst on holiday in Greece.

One of the most popular jobs for NIG operatives recently was to attend at Indian restaurants over the South East area, have a meal (for two) and obtain a copy of the taped music being played for copyright reasons.

Needless to say, our operatives' Wives enjoyed an unexpected night out with their normally busy Husbands.

Two employees of a tyre distributor set up a shop which sold tyres at rock bottom prices...NIG discovered that the reason they could afford to sell the tyres so cheaply was that they were stealing them from their employer!

Two young policemen broke the window of a suspect and were subsequently charged with criminal damage, fined £500 and sacked from the force. NIG collected fresh evidence and helped get their sentences quashed.

A City insurance company became suspicious when a client complained that his wife had been electrocuted while ironing washing during a visit to her Mother in Pakistan - not least because he had taken out a large insurance policy on her life the previous year.

NIG sent an agent to Pakistan who discovered that the man's wife was not dead and the death certificate had been forged. The man was charged with conspiracy to defraud the insurance company of £250,000.

A loft fire caused by a plumber leaving his blowtorch on, turned out on investigation to have been another deliberate attempt by the plumber and the homeowner to defraud the insurance company.

A client recently spent £5,000 in order to get back his missing persian cat!

On being appointed to gather evidence for the defence in a murder enquiry, NIG investigators were told by the defendant that he had been wrongly identified by the police.

He had refused to co-operate with them because he had been with another woman, a prostitute, and was afraid of the consequences at home. When he finally confessed to the police, they were unable to locate the woman and therefore did not believe his story.

NIG investigators traced the woman to Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, and she agreed to return with them to England to make a statement to the police.

NIG's client was released, the police re-opened the case and the real murderer was later arrested, charged and is currently serving a life sentence.

And - NIG's client later married his lady of the night!

NIG was asked to investigate the apparent loss of equipment from a photographic wholesalers. All stock controls appeared to be in order and security controls were first class.

NIG investigators subsequently discovered that a 13-year-old had been hacking into the company's computer, ordering equipment and having it delivered to his address. He was also marking it SAMPLE NO CHARGE.

All the equipment was later returned to the company in its original packaging, never having been opened.

The theft of a horse and suspicion by the owner that the horse may have been taken to continental Europe led NIG investigators to search every horsebox that was leaving the UK by the most obvious route.

Ten investigators were used for several days and eventually the horse was discovered being taken out of the Country with false documentation and a false white blaze which had been badly applied by the thieves.

They had used shoe dye!

NIG investigators searched for a client's maternal parents through four countries, only to discover that they were living two doors away from the client.

In fact, the couple regularly acted as babysitters for the client's children and treated them as if "they were family"!

Until NIG became involved, no-one had even suspected the possibility of any family link.
